Set Up Demand Capture (Backorders)

Brandscope allows you to capture demand on sold-out products by enabling backorders. This setup lets customers continue placing orders on items that aren’t currently in stock but are able to be fulfilled at a later date.

Lets learn how to capture backorders on products that are currently sold out.

This feature requires adding lead time at the product level and enabling pre-order settings within Brandscope.

You have two options for how backorders display to customers:

  1. Estimated Delivery Month - e.g. “Oct25” (based on lead time in days)

  2. Custom Message - e.g. “Backorder” or “Pre-order”

✅ Speak with your Brandscope Account Manager to enable this feature and nominate your preferred display option.

1. Export your Product DLS

  • Go to: Setup > Releases > Select Release > Export Icon (top right) > Export Product DLS

  • Open the downloaded file

  • Scroll to the far-right columns

2. Update the Required Fields

Column Description
PreOrderLeadTimeDays Enter the number of days from order to expected delivery (e.g. 90 = ~3 months)
PreOrderMessage (Optional) Enter a custom message like "Pre-order now" or "Backorder"

If you leave PreOrderLeadTimeDays blank, the item will not be available for backorder.

3. Import the Updated DLS

  • Go to: Administration > Product DLS Import

  • Click the blue + icon, select your file

  • Click Validate, then Upload once successful

4. Enable Pre-Orders for the Release

  • Go to: Setup > Releases > Edit (top right icon)

  • Select the Integration tab

  • Scroll to Access Settings

  • Toggle Allow Pre-order to ON

  • Click Save

5. Confirm the Setup

  • Log in as a test retailer

  • Navigate to: Brand > Select Brand > Select Release

  • You’ll now see a “Backorder” box (if using a custom message), or a month like “Oct25” if using the lead time format.

  • You can still manage stock availability using the ATSInIndent and ATSInInseason fields as needed.

  • This feature works independently of any warehouse management or ERP system.

  • Products must have a lead time set to appear in the backorder flow.

  • If not configured, sold-out products will not be orderable.
